My husband is Lithuanian and this is a traditional dish. His grandmother used to make it and
her recipe was so rich I could only eat a few bites. This recipe is from a B&B in Carmel by the Sea in California.
4 large potatoes
1/2 pound bacon, cooked and cut into pieces
1 onion, minced
3 eggs, beaten slightly
3 t. salt
1 cup sour cream
1/4 c. half and half
- Grate potatoes.
- Mix in remaining ingredients.
- Bake in a 13x9x2 inch pan at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
- Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 50 minutes more until potatoes are brown.
