We've been making margaritas with frozen limeade and regular tequila for years. When we tried this recipe the difference is like night and day. Using good quality liquors is a must.
2 cups sweet and sour mix
1 c. triple sec (we use Cointreau)
1 ½ cups gold tequila (like Hornitos)
1/3 c. brandy-based orange liqueur(such as Grand Marnier)
2 limes, quartered
- Salt the rims of 8 glasses by pouring salt onto a small plate. Rub the rims of the glasses with lime and press them into the salt.
- Fill the glasses with good clear bagged ice cubes.
- In a blender, combine all the liquors and blend until smooth.
- Pour into glasses and squeeze a quarter lime into each glass and serve.
