This recipe was from my Grandma Sleeth who lived in Indiana. She was a wonderful cook and a great gardener.
My grandparents lived in a farmhouse and had only an outhouse until I was in elementary school.
¼ c. flour
½ c. sugar
½ c. coconut
Pinch salt
½ c. sugar

1 pint milk
1 t. vanilla
2 egg whites, beaten until stiff
Baked pie shell
Whipped cream
1 t. vanilla
2 egg whites, beaten until stiff

- Mix flour, sugar, coconut and salt.
- Add milk. Cook until thick over medium heat, stirring constantly.
- Add vanilla and cool this mixture.
- Beat 2 egg whites until stiff.
- Fold in to the coconut mixture.
- Pour into baked pie shell.
- Serve cold with fresh whipped cream.
