Rose's Baked Beans

I thought my mother made the best baked beans but then I had these at my friend Rose’s house. The secret is adding one can of beans to the bacon grease in the pan. Mmmmmmm bacon.
This makes 4 servings.

2 (1 pound) cans Van Camp Pork and Beans, drained
½ cup chopped, cooked onions (optional)
6 slices bacon, chopped and cooked, leave the grease in the pan
¾ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
½ cup ketchup

  1. Empty 1 can of beans to the pan with the bacon grease. (I add ½ cup chopped cooked onions but it’s not in the original recipe)combine the brown sugar, mustard and ketchup and the other can of beans.
  2. Combine all and put in a casserole.
  3. Top with the bacon.
  4. Bake at 325 degrees for 2 ½ hours.
