Taco Salad

Don't get this confused with our other family taco recipe. This is just another easy way to eat tacos only this recipe you eat with a fork.  One can never get enough of tacos...especially my husband.  Adjust or eliminate any ingredient to your own taste.

1-one ounce package of taco seasoning mix, any brand
1-pound lean ground beef
one medium head iceberg lettuce, chopped
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
one half onion, chopped
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1/2 cup black olives, chopped
tortilla chips, coarsely crushed
sour cream
Taco Sauce
  1. In a 12 inch skillet, brown ground beef and drain.
  2. Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water (use the amount stated on the package).
  3. Bring to a boil, stirring.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes.
  5. Cool mixture.
  6. Combine beef, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, cheddar and black olives in a large bowl.
  7. Cover and chill.
  8. To serve, place salad on a plate,  add sour cream, taco sauce and a bit of crushed tortilla chips.
  9. Tortilla chips can also be crushed and added to the salad before serving.
