2½ c. flour
2 t. baking powder
½ t. salt
½ c. softened butter
½ c. shortening (Crisco)
1 1/3 cups light brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
1/3 c. chopped nuts (optional)
¼ c. granulated sugar
1 t. cinnamon
- Sift the first 3 ingredients together.
- Cream butter, shortening, and brown sugar thoroughly.
- Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
- Add dry ingredients and mix well.
- Fold in the nuts.
- Wrap dough in plastic and chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Mix the cinnamon and sugar together.
- shape level tablespoons of dough into balls.
- Roll balls in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place balls 2" apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes or until set.
- Cool on a wire rack.
