Green Chile Sauce

1 pound ground beef
3 medium onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 1/2 c. water
one 1 pound can tomatoes
1 t. salt
1 (4 oz.) can green chilies, drained
  1. Brown meat and add onions and garlic.
  2. Stir fry until onions are limp.
  3. Add tomatoes, 1 cup water and salt.
  4. Simmer uncovered 1 1/4 hours until thick.  You can add 1/2 cup water if needed.
  5. Chop chilies if needed, add to sauce and simmer 10 to 15 minutes.
