Cinnamon Rolls

These rolls are made with yellow cake mix. Now what's not to like about that?

1 box (18 1/2 ounce) yellow cake mix
5 cups all purpose flour
2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
2 1/2 cups hot water
butter (softened)
2 Tablespoons cinnamon
2 cups granulated sugar

Topping:
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 cup chopped nuts
  1. Combine cake mix, flour and yeast in a large bowl. Whisk to combine.
  2. Stir in hot water.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface 10 to 15 times.
  4. Place in oiled bowl and brush top lightly with more oil.
  5. Cover and let rise until doubled.
  6. Roll dough to a 9" x 18" rectangle
  7. Spread with softened butter.
  8. Mix cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle over the dough.
  9. Roll up jelly roll style and cut into 12 pieces and place in a 13" x 9" pan.
  10. Let rise in pan until doubled.
  11. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  12. Make topping by combining butter, brown sugar, light corn syrup and nuts.
  13. Pour topping evenly over rolls.
  14. Bake 25 minutes or until golden brown.
