This is my sister-in-law's recipe. Every time I make this recipe I am amazed at the simplicity of the ingredients and the light flavor it produces when combined. This is always gone at the end of the party. Chop everything finely.
3 ounces cream cheese, soft
1 cup sour cream
lettuce, chopped (red leaf adds color but use any kind)
green onions, chopped
tomatoes, chopped
green pepper, chopped
black olives, chopped, optional
Colby Cheese, 4-6 ounces shredded
1, 7-ounce bottle taco sauce, your choice
(I like the brand Herdez Salsa Verde)
1 large bag sturdy tortilla chips
- Beat cream cheese and sour cream until smooth.
- Spread on a platter or 11x14" pan.
- Layer the finely chopped vegetables in order as above.
- Cover with cheese.
- Pour sauce over top and spread evenly.
- Cover and chill at least 1 hour.
- Serve with chips.
